Form Guardian — Privacy Policy

Form Guardian is a browser extension that automatically saves what you type into web forms so you can recover it after a crash, accidental tab close, or network error. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and how.
What we collect — and what we don't
Form data (stays on your device). The content you enter into forms is saved
locally in your browser's storage (chrome.storage.local). It is
never transmitted to us or any third party. It never leaves your browser.
Account information. If you sign in with Google, we store a minimal profile (your user id and email address) in Google Firebase (Firestore) solely to associate the extension with your account. We do not store your form contents in the cloud.
Anonymous usage analytics (optional, off unless you allow it). If enabled, we send anonymous, aggregate event counts (e.g. "a form was saved", "a recovery happened") with a random identifier. We never send form contents, field values, the websites you visit, or any personal data. You can turn this off at any time in the extension's settings.
How we use data
Account info is used only to authenticate you and link the extension to your account. Anonymous analytics (if enabled) is used only to understand overall usage and improve the product. We do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.
Third parties
We use Google Firebase for sign-in and account storage, and optionally Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. No other third parties receive your data.
Data retention
Locally saved form data is automatically removed after 30 days, and you can delete all of it at any time from the extension's settings ("Delete all saved data"). Your account profile is kept until you request deletion.
Your choices
- Opt out of anonymous analytics in the extension settings.
- Delete all locally saved form data from the extension settings.
- Sign out at any time.
- Request account deletion by contacting us.
Security
Form data never leaves your device. Account access is protected by Google authentication, and cloud profiles are isolated per user so no one can read another user's profile.
Children
Form Guardian is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
